Join us in the Events Space for an exhibition of artwork by precarious, low-paid and migrant workers represented by the United Voices of the World and Independent Workers of Great Britain trade unions.
The exhibition is the first showcase of artwork produced as part of a three-year project led by Artist Ella Jones in collaboration with Dr. Vera Weghmann, one of the co-founders of both unions. The project combines Participatory Action Research with art-making to build knowledge about independent trade union activism with members.
Limited edition prints will be on sale, with all proceeds going towards both unions’ strike funds ✊
The project has been funded by the Arts Council England, Fenton Arts Trust, BA/Leverhulme Small Grants, UAL Public Engagement Seed Fund and the Centre for Research and Employment and Work at the University of Greenwich.
The exhibition is part of the Tower Hamlet’s Community Meal, a free, family-friendly event celebrating local communities 💌
