Insurrections are raging across Europe and the global South – from the uprisings in France led by the youth of the banlieus and the uprisings in Albania, Serbia, Spain, Portugal, Belgium and Italy, to the escalating clashes in Delhi, Rabat, Rio de Janiero and elsewhere.
Pelican House is excited to be hosting a discussion focused on the uprisings in France, Spain and Albania, to explore: why are insurrections sweeping Europe? What are the local conditions and demands and how do they differ? What is the hope for a youth-led internationalism demonstrated by the activities of the last two weeks? And what is there for us to learn here in Britain?
We’ll be hearing from comrades on the ground, who will be speaking on their experiences and on the background to these insurrections, their significance in the context of uprisings across Europe, what solidarity is needed and what we can learn here in Britain.
