We’re really glad to be hosting three Community Iftars at Pelican House over the next two weeks.
The first, led by our local comrades as a fundraiser for the local charity “Women’s Movement”, will take place on Sunday 31st March from 7pm in our Events Space. Women’s Movement is a charity led by local Bengali women that coordinates peer-to-peer support and social programmes, as well as doing local homelessness outreach and food provision. The request is for anyone who wishes to attend to donate £20 towards the charity, but please get in touch with us if cost is a barrier to you attending.
On 3rd April, the Community Iftar will be a migrant-centred space, so we particularly invite comrades who have been or are currently on the move to join us in the event space. On 4th April, the Community Iftar will be a Queer-centred space, so we particularly invite LGBTQIA+ comrades (and their friends) to join us.
We’re grateful to be partnering with our neighbours Maslaha for our second and third Community Iftar meals. Maslaha translates from the Arabic as for the common good. We believe that the tools for liberation lie within our communities.
