Join us for Intimate Captivities – Oral Histories, Prison Archives and Queer Subjectivities after October 7th – a collective listening session featuring excerpts from “Assir” (Political Prisoner), a podcast rooted in personal testimony. Omar wrote and recorded this five-episode podcast with “Inkyfada”, addressing themes of isolation, starvation, harassment, disease, and queerness. The podcast is originally in Arabic, and the excerpts will be presented with English subtitles during the session.
The session draws from Omar’s incarceration in brutal Israeli prisons during the ongoing genocide. The listening session will be followed by an open conversation with Omar, exploring the production and archiving of prisoner literature and histories, the figure of “The Prisoner” and Palestinian queer subjectivities post-October 7th.
Omar Khatib is a queer writer and organizer from Jerusalem, Palestine. He was imprisoned from March 2024 to June 2025.
