Author Abdelrahman ElGendy will be in conversation with poet and writer Fariha Róisín about his new book, Huna, and the realities of state violence, incarceration, and memory. Tracing his path from student protester to political prisoner and, now, exile, Huna takes prison as its lens to examine questions of erasure and solidarity.
Together, they will consider what these experiences can teach us today, and how political memory and radical imagination open us toward otherwise futures.

Abdelrahman ElGendy (@abdelrahman_elgendy95) is an Egyptian writer, translator, and author of Huna: A Memoir of Revolution, Prison, and Becoming, longlisted for the National Book Award. His work examines incarceration and state violence, transnational solidarity, and the politics of memory.
Fariha Róisín (@fariha_roisin) is a Canadian-Australian writer. They are the author of the poetry collection How to Cure a Ghost (2019), the novel Like a Bird (2020), and the non-fiction book Who Is Wellness For?: An Examination of Wellness Culture and Who It Leaves Behind (2023).
