Building a living standards policy platform for the UK. A first series of events bringing together leading progressive voices.
More than a decade of austerity has hollowed out public services, deepened inequality, and left many without access to the care, support and infrastructure they need to live with dignity. Today, these impacts are still being felt — in the NHS and local councils, in schools and social care — with many services pushed to the brink and staff stretched beyond capacity.
This online event will examine how we can move beyond the failed logics of austerity and rebuild public services as the foundation of a fair and resilient society. Our panel will explore bold, progressive alternatives: from securing adequate funding and democratic accountability, to rethinking how services are delivered and who they are designed to serve.
Confirmed speakers: Anna Coote (New Economics Foundation), Jamie Driscoll (Majority), Luke Fletcher MS (Plaid Cymru), Abby Jitendra (Joseph Rowntree Foundation)
