Book Launch: Viyyukka – The Morning Star

Talks & Debates

On 17th March, commemorating the International Women’s Day, India Labour Solidarity in collaboration with Daraja Press will host the book launch of Viyyukka – The Morning Star.

Viyyukka is a rare and compelling anthology of short stories written by women revolutionaries in Central India fighting against the state and mining corporations to preserve their jal, jangal and jameen (land, forest, water).

The unique collection features narratives that are “lived experiences written from within the movement” while the authors served as guerrilla soldiers, often under extreme duress.
At a time when indigenous communities are being attacked across the world, let us hear from the women who have been at the frontlines of the fight against colonial and capitalist forces for the last 3 decades.

There are over 300 short stories collected across six volumes already published in Telugu by Virasam. We will be discussing the first volume to be released internationally. Our panel of speakers will include publisher Firoze Manjhi.
