A group of campaigners in Hulme, Manchester, fight a tenacious battle to defend their community against predatory developers and their backers on the council. Based on official documents and interviews with activists, this documentary play combines heartfelt performances and original music to show a community challenging a system rigged in favour of the powerful.
Block the Block is a campaign led by residents of Hulme, alongside Greater Manchester Tenants Union and Unit 38 Architects, who have developed their own Community Plan in opposition to the redevelopment of the Gamecock pub on their estate.
