A day of trans solidarity by the Mutual Aid Network for Trans People in South Asia aimed at awareness building.
In early March 2026, the Government of India introduced and passed, within two weeks, the “Transgender Protection of Rights Bill, 2026” in both the lower and upper houses of parliament with overwhelming and at an unprecendented speed.
Within a week on 31st March, the president of India signed the bill into an act. No Trans communities across the country were consulted in the writing and passing of this bill.
In this time, Trans communities in India have been organising around the bill (now an act), creating a concerted effort to communicate the effects of the bill, while at the same time, forming litigation teams to challenge it in state and national courts.
🔥This event is led by South Asian Trans people and our loved ones who want to engage attention to the connected nature of anti-gender movements around the World that have, in India and beyond, successfully used trans people as scapegoats in a time of active genocide, and racial-capitalist destruction around the world. We welcome people from across movements, spaces, and places to come together in solidarity with South Asian/Global Majority Trans, Intersex and GNC people.
We have designed this event as a full-day programme that will bring bits of trans organising and creativity from communities in South Asia for people across movements to engage with here in the UK. If you are not able to join us for the entire day, join us for the parts you like!
